Terms of Use
Effective date: August 1, 2026 · Last updated: August 1, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of appliancewatchdog.com (the "Site"), operated by Outpace Performance Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("ApplianceWatchDog," "we," "us"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. What the Site is
ApplianceWatchDog is an independent research and comparison publisher. We review home warranty companies, appliance parts retailers, repair marketplaces, and on-demand repair services, and publish guides on appliance repair, replacement, and costs. We are not a home warranty company, insurance company, repair service, contractor, or licensed agent or broker of any kind. We don't sell, issue, or administer warranties or service contracts, and we don't perform repairs.
2. No professional advice
Site content is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not, and should not be treated as, professional advice of any kind — including financial, insurance, legal, or trade advice.
- Repair safety. Appliance repair can involve electricity, gas, refrigerants, sharp edges, and heavy components. Our guides describe how repairs are commonly performed; they cannot assess your skills, tools, or specific appliance. You perform any DIY repair at your own risk. Always disconnect power, shut off gas, and follow the manufacturer's instructions — and when in doubt, hire a licensed professional. Never attempt gas-line, sealed-system, or high-voltage work without proper qualification.
- Warranty and purchase decisions. Our ratings and comparisons are opinions based on documented research at a point in time. They are not a recommendation tailored to your circumstances. Before buying any plan, read the provider's full contract — coverage, caps, exclusions, and fees are set by that contract, not by our summary of it.
3. About home warranties ("service contracts")
Products commonly marketed as "home warranties" are, legally, service contracts — they are not insurance and not the manufacturer's warranty. They are regulated state by state, by different agencies under different rules, and provider availability, pricing, and required disclosures vary by state. In some states the product may not legally be called a "warranty" at all — in Washington, for example, providers must describe it as a "service contract." Where our pages use "home warranty," we use the term in its everyday marketing sense; your contract and your state's rules control what the product actually is.
4. Accuracy, timeliness, and third-party information
We work hard to keep figures current and stamp volatile data "as of" a stated date (see our editorial policy). But prices, fees, caps, terms, and availability change without notice, and we can't guarantee any third-party information is current or error-free. Always confirm terms directly with the provider before purchasing. If you spot an error, tell us.
5. Affiliate relationships
Some Site links (including links routed through /go/) are affiliate links: if you click and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Compensation never determines rankings or review content. Full details: /legal/affiliate-disclosure.
6. Intellectual property
The Site's content — text, ratings, data compilations, graphics, and design — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view, print, and share limited excerpts for personal, non-commercial use with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial portions, scrape the Site, or use our content (including ratings and data tables) commercially — including to train machine-learning models — without our prior written permission.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the Site; attempt unauthorized access; submit false correction reports or fake reviews; use automated tools to extract content at scale; or use the Site in violation of applicable law.
8. Third-party sites and services
Links to third-party sites (including providers we review) are provided for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, terms, or practices. Your dealings with any provider — quotes, purchases, claims — are solely between you and that provider.
9. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APPLIANCEWATCHDOG AND OUTPACE PERFORMANCE LTD WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM (a) YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON SITE CONTENT, (b) ANY REPAIR YOU PERFORM OR COMMISSION, OR (c) ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE YOU PURCHASE FROM A THIRD PARTY, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED USD $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations; where a limitation isn't permitted, it applies to the fullest extent allowed.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms; the "Last updated" date will change and material updates will be noted on this page. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or out of your use of the Site, are governed by the law of England and Wales — where Outpace Performance Ltd is registered. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any such dispute.
If you are a consumer, that clause takes nothing away from you. It does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in, and it does not remove any right you have under the law of your country to bring proceedings in your local courts. Where those rules conflict with anything in these Terms, those rules win.
Before any of that, please contact us — we would rather fix a problem than argue about it, and a correction is usually faster than either of us wants a dispute to be.
