Ariston Recalls NTI and HTP Gas Boilers Over Fire, Carbon Monoxide and Impact Hazards
Ariston is recalling 4,726 NTI and HTP residential gas boilers in the US, plus 2,261 sold in Canada. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the condensate dish inside the boiler can crack during a delayed ignition, letting unburned gas build up inside the sealed cabinet; if it ignites, the front cover can suddenly detach. Ariston has 34 reports of the dish breaking, three of the cover coming off, and one technician servicing a boiler who suffered a broken jaw. Stop using it and call 800-688-2575. The repair is free.
The recall was announced on October 29, 2026 (CPSC recall number 27-051), alongside a Health Canada notice. The boilers were made in Canada by Ariston Canada Inc., formerly NTI Boilers Inc., and imported by Ariston Thermo USA LLC of Providence, Rhode Island.
The timing is the hard part. This lands at the start of heating season, and the instruction is to switch off the thing that heats the house.

Which boilers are covered
Three model series. The NTI FTVN and TFTN boilers are gray; the HTP EFTU (Elite Fire Tube Ultra) boilers are black. All are metal, rectangular, with NTI or HTP printed on the front. They sold through independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors from May 2021 through July 2026, according to CPSC, for between $3,200 and $7,700. Health Canada's notice gives a sale window of May 2021 to August 2025.

One caution on that last row. Both CPSC and Health Canada print the EFTU-199WCN range with an end serial lower than its start, which every other row avoids. We have reproduced it as published. If you own an EFTU-199WCN, do not rule yourself out by comparing digits — call Ariston with the serial number.

What to do
- Find the rating plate. CPSC says the model and serial number are on the plate on the left-hand side of the boiler — the side panel, not the front control display.
- Stop using the boiler. CPSC's instruction is to stop immediately. NTI's own notice adds: do not clear any lockouts. If the boiler has shut itself down, leave it shut down.
- Call Ariston on 800-688-2575, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, to schedule the free repair by a certified technician. The recall pages are at
ntiboilers.com/safety-recallsandhtproducts.com/safety-notice.html. - If you have to keep it running until the repair, CPSC says to make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. NTI's notice says throughout the building, including the boiler room.
NTI's recall page, which covers the FTVN and TFTN models, describes the fix as a new controller with revised software, installed by a certified technician, with Ariston reimbursing eligible labor costs. The technician inspects the condensate dish and, if it looks damaged, Ariston arranges a free replacement. The job ends with a combustion test using a gas analyzer and a label marking the boiler as repaired. NTI's FAQ puts the turnaround at approximately three days from the date of contact.
Why we are running this
We do not rate Ariston, NTI or HTP, and no comparison of ours moves. There is no part to buy here either — we earn commission from parts retailers, and none of it applies to a controller the manufacturer is shipping free.
These boilers were sold through heating contractors and wholesalers, not stores. NTI's notice tells sellers and installers to send the recall to their customers, but do not wait for that letter — the rating plate is on the boiler, and the phone line is open now.
Our repair-or-replace guide runs on the 50% rule, which weighs a repair quote against the cost of a new unit. On a boiler bought in the last five years at $3,200 to $7,700, there is no quote to weigh: the repair is free. And this is not a home warranty claim to open or a service fee to spend. The manufacturer owes the repair.
